William A. “Bill” Bonnell, age 66, of Blairs Mills, PA, passed away Thursday morning, April 5, 2012. Born in Detroit, MI on April 22, 1945, he was the son of the late Frances and Margaret Bonnell.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Bill served his country honorably for 21 years, retiring from military service in 1982 and moving on to pursue a second career as a Boiler Tech for the City of Harrisburg for 20 years, and retiring in 2003. Bill was a member of the Blairs Mills Brethren in Christ Church, where he taught Sunday School. He enjoyed working in the garden, spending time outside, and especially going bowling.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Virginia Neidigh Bonnell; three sons, James “Jim” Bonnell of Gardiner, ME, Joseph C. Bonnell of CA, and Ronald E. Bonnell (wife Stephanie) of Thompsontown, PA; eight grandchildren, Dakota C. Bonnell, Samantha L. Dillman Shearer, Destiny J. Bonnell, Cody R. Geroux, Dakota S. Bonnell, Faith A. Bonnell, Kobe R. A. Bonnell, and Kelton L. Bonnell; a great-grandson, Aiden J. Shearer; and three siblings, Judy Reeves, Nancy Wyatt, and Tom Garrisi Bonnell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Emily L. Dillman, a granddaughter, Sarah M. Dillman, and two brothers, Frances and Robert Bonnell.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run, PA; where Pastor Roy Fahnestock will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will follow the service in the Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church Cemetery; where military honors will be rendered by members of James W. McCartney, Post 232, American Legion Color Guard.
