William G. “Bill” Brown, 82, of Chambersburg, PA, departed this life to be with the love of his life on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at his home. Born February 20, 1935 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Frank G. Brown, Sr. and Mary E. Myers Brown. Mr. Brown was a 1958 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from Shippensburg University. He served honorably with the US Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Brown retired in 1986 from Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, MD and was currently employed at Agronomy in Mercersburg, PA. He and his late wife owned Dare’s Hairtique in Chambersburg and early in his life he taught school. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #600, Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224, the Marine Corps League, and Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, all in Chambersburg. His wife, Joyce A. Bender Brown, whom he married August 24, 1958, preceded him in death on April 15, 2017.
He is survived by his daughter, E. Dare McClure (husband Dennis) of Chambersburg; two grandchildren Ashley Brence Fuller (husband Steve), and Chip Szczerba; two great grandchildren, Jaiden and Hally Szczerba; and his brother, Barry Brown. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Brook Brown; a brother, Frank G. Brown, Jr.; and a sister, Marjorie J. Martz.
Services and entombment, under the direction of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, will be private.
