William E. College, 84, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Thursday morning, January 1, 2015 at The Village of Laurel Run. Born October 10, 1930 in Chambersburg he was a son of the late J. Roland and Janet Hassler College. A farmer most of his life, he had also worked for 18 years at the former Grove Worldwide in the Wagon Division. He was a member of St. James United Brethren Church. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles.His wife of nearly fifty years, Sarah J. College, whom he married October 10, 1953, preceded him in death on May 23, 2003.
He is survived by four children, Edward College and wife Deborah of Chambersburg, Janet M. Eckstine and husband Jerry of Chambersburg, Robert College and wife Debbie of Chambersburg, and Carol Huntoon and husband David of Shippensburg; six grandchildren, Eddie College, Jill Heinbaugh, Jeannie Eckstine, , Jonathan Huntoon, James Eckstine, and Amy Andrews; and five great-grandchildren, Madyson Eckstine, Mikel Eckstine, Bronson Huntoon, Chase Andrews, and Cassidy Andrews. Also surviving are two brothers, Joseph H. and Roy College, both of Chambersburg; and three sisters, Mary Jane College of Chambersburg, Helen College of Fayetteville, and Nancy College of Chambersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 5, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Murray Stevens and Pastor David Huntoon officiating. Interment will follow at Grindstone Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
