William Light

William E. Light, 83, of Fayetteville, PA and formerly of Cumberland, MD, passed away Wednesday evening, January 28, 2015 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born October 24, 1931 in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late G. Ray and Kathleen Wingate Light. Mr. Light was 1949 graduate of Fort Hill High School in Cumberland and attended Frostburg State University. He served with the US Army Reserve and retired as Director of Customer Service from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania after 40 years of service. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Cumberland and in Chambersburg. He volunteered for many years at the Chambersburg Hospital and enjoyed golf. Mr. and Mrs. Light were former members of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cumberland.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy McMurtrie Light, whom he married April 10, 1954; two sons, William Gregory (wife Theresa “Terry”) Light of Weston, FL and Jeffrey R. Light of Fayetteville. He is also survived by his “other family” in Cumberland; the Peskins and Burkes; as well as Susan, Tracy, and Katie.

The date and time of services will be announced later. Interment will be private.
