William E. “Bill” Martin, 86, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Saturday morning, March 5, 2022 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 13, 1935 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Norman L. and Catherine M. Appel Martin. Bill was a member of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School class of 1953 and earned his GED at the age of 60. He retired after 46 years from the former J. Schoeneman Company in Chambersburg where he started as an apprentice; advanced to supervisor; plant manager; and then the quality control manager. He was a member of King Street United Brethren Church and the Primetimers. He volunteered as a greeter and communion server at the church. Bill enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and floating by boat on the Conococheague creek.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Stouffer Martin, whom he married September 3, 1955; two sons, Randall E. Martin and fiancé Barbara Baker of Chambersburg and Dennis W. Martin and wife Tambra of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Jason R. Martin and wife Danielle of St. Thomas and Jollene M. Martin and fiancé Justin Leonard of Dover; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Alexis Martin of St. Thomas. He is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis Henry and husband Cyril and Marilyn Spielman, all of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Cline.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 10, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Ronald Cook and Rev. Lester Stine will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from Noon until services begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
