William C. Olson, 65, of Chambersburg, died on Friday, January 24, 2014, after his year-long battle with mesothelioma. Born on July 18, 1948 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Tilman and Joan Chamberlain Olson. At age 9, his family moved to England, where he eventually met and married the love of his life, Janet Gregory Olson. She preceded him in death on February 27, 2011.
Bill retired as an engineer and inventor. He enjoyed wood and metal working, riding his Burgman scooter, and working on his backyard fishpond.
Surviving are two daughters, Joanna Boock of Chambersburg and Penny See (Nathaniel) of Pittsburgh; two grandsons, Crosby Grey and Oakley Parker of Pittsburgh; and one brother, Dennis Olson of Chambersburg. Aside from his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Olson.
A memorial service will be held at 7PM on Thursday, January 30, in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Murray Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 5-7 PM on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
