William M. Porter, 66, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 30, 2021 at his home. Born February 16, 1955 in Trenton, NJ, he was a son of the late John and Marion Coon Porter. He was a 1973 graduate of Pennsbury High School in Fairless Hill, PA and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Shippensburg University and a Master’s Degree in Taxation from Philadelphia University. A Certified Public Accountant, he owned and operated Porter Business Development Group in Chambersburg. He enjoyed fishing and Penn State football.
A loving, generous, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he will be missed by his wife, Ginny Ott Porter, whom he married July 19, 1980; his son, Michael W. Porter and wife Amanda; his daughter, Becky L. Akers and husband Patrick; and his five grandchildren, Katlin, Austin, Isaac, Zachary, and Lucas, all of Chambersburg. He is also survived by a brother and a sister.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 6, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Brent Liechty will officiate. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from Noon until services begin at 2:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
