William Shank

William Robert Shank, 83, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 4, 1940 in Waynesboro, PA he was the son of the late William K. and Lillie I. (Monninger) Shank.

Bill was employed as a truck driver for EJ Barnhart Trucking and for Penn-Mar Oil Company retiring in 2005. Bill has been a faithful member of the Open Door Church since 1971. He served as Sunday school teacher, superintendent, deacon, and elder at the church. Bill was a hardworking man who loved his family and church.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna (Barnhart) Shank who he married March 2, 1963; two daughters, Jackie Shank, Stacey Shank and a granddaughter, Michaela B. Shank of all Chambersburg; three brothers, Gerald Shank (Ruby) of Greencastle, Leslie Shank (Kay) of Greencastle, and John Shank (Shirley) of Shady Grove; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Shank of Chambersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Effie Fetterhoff, Mary Meyers, Irene Helman, Joseph Shank, and F. Albert “Abbie” Shank.

Services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 7, 2023 at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Pastor Mike Sanders and Pastor Carl McKee officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM Saturday morning in the church.
