William Sheaffer

William “Bill” Sheaffer, age 68, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. Born March 29, 1950, in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Paul David and Ruth Burkhart Sheaffer.
Bill was a 1968 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School and a 1972 graduate of Shippensburg State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Science degree in Business Administration. Bill worked in Court Administration for the 39th Judicial District Court, retiring in 2007 after 35 years of service. He was past president of the Chambersburg Noontime Lions Club, past president of the Chambersburg YMCA, former PIAA football official and an Elder at the Chambersburg Gospel Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, riding bicycles, golfing, and traveling.
Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Sandra “Sandy” Denlinger Sheaffer, whom he married August 19, 1972; his daughter, Laura Amy Maiurano (husband Marco) of Gillette, New Jersey; his cherished granddaughter, Cecilia “Cece” Maiurano; and four siblings, P. David Sheaffer, Jr. (wife Linda) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Douglas J. Sheaffer (wife Cathy) of North Carolina, Cynthia Lee (husband David) of North Carolina, and Connie L. Gomez (husband Will) of West Chester, Pennsylvania.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, August 6, 2018, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment in Salem Cemetery was private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in his name to the Chambersburg YMCA, 570 E. McKinley St., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance, 344 Leedy Way East, Chambersburg, PA 17202 or to the Chambersburg Gospel Chapel, 86 North 3rd St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
