William G. Stake, age 88, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away at his home on Monday, April 27, 2015, with his daughter by his side. Born November 29, 1926 in Amberson, PA, he was the son of the late William C. and Bessie Coons Stake.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Stake continued his government service at Homestead for 15 years and at Mechanicsburg Navigational Services for 20 years. He was a member of the Chiques United Methodist Church, Mt. Joy, PA and the Elizabethtown F. & A.M. #682, and the Harrisburg Consistory Scottish Rite.
Surviving are four children, Cynthia A. Stake of Elizabethtown, PA, Connie M. Morgan (husband Jeff) of Vienna, Virginia, Penny J. Stake of Bainbridge, PA, and Randy W. Stake (wife Deanna) of Elizabethtown, PA; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and four siblings, Louetta Wickard of Newville, PA Pauline Farner of Linglestown, PA, Amelia Arndt of Shippensburg, PA, and Kenneth Stake of Fayetteville, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Norris Stake, whom he married on June 22, 1952, and four siblings, Zelda Stewart, Ruth Jumper, Guy Stake, and Clara Rowles.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11 AM at the Amberson United Methodist Church, 18889 Amberson Rd., Amberson, PA 17210; where Pastor Phil Foster will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow the service in Amberson Union Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Agett – Geisel Funeral Home, Dry Run, PA.
