William J. Vocke, 89, of Fannettsburg, PA, died Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Harrisburg Hospital following heart surgery. Born May 30, 1928 in Dravosburg, PA, he was the son of the late William H. and Grace Taylor Vocke. Mr. Vocke was a 1946 graduate of the former Metal Township High School and upon graduating he entered the US Marine Corps and served for a period of two years. He was employed as an Electronics Technician at Letterkenny Army Depot for 37 years and after retiring devoted many years to community service. He was a charter member of the Metal Township Fire and Ambulance Company, in which he served as an Emergency Medical Technician for 20 years and helped with all fundraisers as long as he was able. He was a long-time member of Our Lady of Refuge Roman Catholic Church in Doylesburg, and served with the Fannettsburg Cable TV Company and the Metal Township Municipal Authority.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Mort Vocke, whom he married June 18, 1946, and their sons William T. Vocke and wife Michelle of Leesburg, VA and J. Michael Vocke of Waynesboro, PA; granddaughters Lauren and Brittany Vocke; and a step-grandson Cameron Murdock.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by The Very Rev. Luis R. Rodriguez at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Our Lady of Refuge Roman Catholic Church, Doylesburg, PA. Interment will follow in the Fannettsburg Reformed Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
