William “Carl” “C.W.” Weaverling, Jr. age 71, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020, at the York Hospital. Born July 23, 1948, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late William and Muriel Mason Weaverling, Sr.
Carl was a 1966 graduate of CASHS. A U.S. Navy veteran, Carl served honorably during the Vietnam Conflict, where he served on the U.S.S. Yorktown CVS-10 and the U.S.S. Holder DD819. He continued his service working as a firefighter at Walter Reed and then at Letterkenny Army Depot where he retired in 1998. Carl was a life member of the VFW Post 1599, Veterans of Vietnam War Post 41, and the American Legion Post 46 all of Chambersburg. He was also a member of the Franklin Fire Company and the Chambersburg Club. He was a former member of the Chambersburg Maroons. Carl enjoyed music, cooking, golf, darts, and his fur babies, Riley, Keisha, and Snowball; however his favorite enjoyment was a Saturday afternoon drive in the MG for a cold one at the VFW with his Honey.
Surviving is his wife of 15 years, Joni Kimple Weaverling, whom he married on June 30, 2005; three children, Amy Weber (husband Willie) of Chambersburg, PA, Jeffrey Weaverling (wife Kylie) of Chambersburg, PA, and Kristopher Renzella (wife Mannon) of Scotland, PA; seven grandchildren, Alexander, Dominick, Isaak, Ethan, Eli, Kaden, and Porter; and two siblings, Mary Ann Hess (Richard Eakle) of Frankfort, DE and Anita Weaverling Keller (Justin “Terry”) Keller of Newburg, PA.
