William Williams

January 27, 1929 — December 19, 2018

William F. “Bill” Williams Sr. accepted the invitation to have a face to face conversation with Jesus Christ early in the morning of December 19th, 2018. Never a man to disobey an order from his Superior, Bill willingly agreed to the encounter. He was always his most alert early in the morning, so it suited him just fine.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 27, 1929 Bill was the first of nine children born to Charles and Alice Williams. From the moment of birth, his life was filled with love, joy, pain, and hardship. Although he was not born into the lap of luxury, he knew how to enjoy life and took advantage of every opportunity to love: love his Lord, love his country, love his family. He will be missed by his surviving brothers and sisters.

Bill lived out his faith as a Roman Catholic and was devoted to Christ through His Blessed Mother. Being a member of the Knights of Columbus was a duty and honor for him.

When his country needed him to fight in Korea, Bill went. He served honorably during the Korean War as part of the 532nd Engineer Amphibious Support Regiment. Even after his time in the service, Bill worked for his country as an electrician at the Letterkenny Army Depot.

After meeting Irma Rodriguez in Puerto Rico, Bill and Irma fell in love and the two set off on their fifty two year adventure. They welcomed William, Michael, Maria and Laura into their loving embrace.

Bill taught his children well. He taught them, first and foremost, to love the Lord. He taught them to work hard and be honest in their dealings with others. He taught them to be firm in their dealings with people and fight for what they believed to be right, but to always be ready to forgive others quickly. As a result of his care and love for his children, they grew to be fine adults.

His family grew strong under his guidance and soon it grew in number. Daniel and Grace were born to William and Monica (Higler) Williams, Kyle and Hope were born to Michael and Kathy (Panasci) Williams, Anna Teresa was born to Maria and Brian Kauffman and Christopher Kenney was born to Laura and Mike Loose.
Bill will continue to guide and help his family. He is now loving his Lord, his country and his family in a most perfect way.

A memorial Mass will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA on January 3rd at 10:00 in the morning, where Rev. Fr. Richard Lyons will celebrate. The Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA was entrusted with the arrangements of Bill’s final wishes. Interment will be in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered, following the Mass at 3:00 PM. If you would like to leave a condolence online, you can do so at www.geiselfuneralhome.com.
