William Wishard

June 2, 1934 — June 29, 2017

William O. Wishard, 83, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 2, 1934 in Zullinger, PA, he was a son of the late Hugh D. and Winona C. Hess Wishard. He was a 1952 graduate of the former Washington Township High School and served with the US Air Force from 1952-1956. He retired from Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD where he worked as a Tool Specialist. Following his retirement he was employed at the Penn National Golf Course and then for a number of years at NAPA in Chambersburg. Mr. and Mrs. Wishard had at one time attended Solomon’s Lutheran Church. Bill was a member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, the Chambersburg Club, Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, the Marine Corps League, and the Masonic Lodge, all in Chambersburg; the Eagle’s Club in Waynesboro; and was a life member of the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, taking family vacations, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife, Laura H. Rowe Wishard, whom he married May 7, 1955; his son, William H. Wishard and wife Vicki of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Amber Wishard and Tucker Perry and wife Courtney; a great-grandson, Jaxon Perry; his sister, W. Dianne Wishard Wortz and husband Charles of Waynesboro; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lesa A. Wishard Sowers; his son-in-law, Robert Sowers; and a sister, Joan Miller.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. All are invited to then gather at the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department’s Social Hall at 6:00 PM on Sunday to celebrate his life with the family.
