Willie E. Campbell, 86, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born on July 22, 1926 in Georgetown, SC, he was a son of the late Lizzie and Willie E. Campbell.
A US Army veteran, Willie retired as a truck driver for the U.S. government. He was a member of the John Wesley AME Zion Church in Chambersburg, Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46, and the Laurel Lodge IBPOElks 133, all in Chambersburg. Among Willie’s many interests, he was an avid golfer.
Willie is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Thelma E.Thomas Campbell, whom he married on July 15, 1946; Willia F. Campbell (wife of Ralph Patterson) of Norfolk, VA and Phillip E. Campbell of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Medina M. Williams (wife of Darnell) and Eli Patterson; two nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 1 sister and 1 niece.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; with viewing one hour prior. The Rev. Dr. Allie Harper will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, where members of the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard will conduct military graveside honors.
