Wilma Shaffer

Wilma J. Shaffer, age 82, of Chambersburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 25, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born on February 14, 1929 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Ray Robert Graham and Carrie Kathleen (Reed) Graham.

A 1947 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Wilma retired from the Chambersburg Area School District, where she was employed as a cafeteria worker. She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg. Some of her favorite hobbies were baking and making fudge. Wilma also enjoyed visiting residents in local nursing homes and ministering to them about the importance of Jesus Christ.

She is survived by here husband, Thomas Shaffer; son Daryl Shaffer, both of Chambersburg; brother Oscar Lee Graham of Fayetteville; one sister, Peggy Louise Taylor of Biglerville; two grandsons, Dustin and Daniel Shaffer; one great grandson, Kaden Shaffer; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Arlene Graham Mackey, and four brothers, Charles, Robert, Donald, and Dean.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in King Street U.B. Church, 162 E. King Street, Chambersburg, PA, with visitation from 12-1 PM. Rev. Lester F. Stine and Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to King Street Church at the above address. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
