Zoe P. McCleaf, age 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born October 17, 1929, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas D. and Maria Alpoynis Papoutsis.
A 1947 graduate of the Shippensburg High School, Mrs. McCleaf went on to graduate from the former Chambersburg Business School. She dedicated over 35 years, working in finance at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 1985. Generous with her time, Mrs. McCleaf volunteered at the Shippensburg University Foundation, the Luhrs Performing Arts Center, and previously at the Chambersburg Hospital Gift Shop. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and St. Catherine Philoptochos society of HTGOC, the Society of Tole and Decorative Painters, and a former member of the Falling Spring Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa M. Pearson (husband Fred) of Poolesville, MD, one grandson, Hunter Pearson, and four siblings, James N. Papoutsis (wife Ramona) of Chambersburg, PA, Dr. Thomas N. Papoutsis (wife Ettie) of Shippensburg, PA, Dr. Magdalene Clouser of Sinking Springs, PA, and Cecelia P. Masney (husband John) of Shippensburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. McCleaf in 2005.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 11 AM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Drive Camp Hill, PA 17011; where Rev. Fr. Michael Varvarelis will celebrate. The family will receive friends at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA on Wednesday, June 21 from 7-9 PM, where a Trisagion service will be held at 8 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will follow the service in Evergreen Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
