Zona J. Upperman, 84, of Chambersburg, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at home with her family by her side. Born on August 19, 1935 in Waynesboro, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clarence H. Barlup and Marie Geyer Barlup. She was the widow of William L. Upperman, who preceded her in death on December 15, 1993.
Zona attended Waynesboro High School and she was a lifelong member of Solomon’s United Church of Christ. She is survived by her two daughters, Staci (husband Scott) Pheil and Kelly Upperman, all of Chambersburg; two sisters, Illeana Stevens of PA and Ethel Day of TX. She will also be greatly missed by her furry grand-dog, Lilli Mae Pheil. Aside from her husband she was preceded in death by two sisters.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, March 12, in Solomon’s United Church of Christ 1594 Swamp Fox Rd, Chambersburg, PA, with Rev. Peter Emig officiating. Interment will follow in Grindstone Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior the service.
